Who is the Tall Joiner?
Tall Joiner began his craft as a carpenter in his home region of Rostov Oblast, on the southern border of Russia and Ukraine. There, he worked with wood daily—making furniture, fitting cupboards, and installing kitchens. Over the course of his career, he estimates he has installed more than 210 kitchens, each one shaped to fit the lives and needs of the people who would use them. That early work rooted him in the discipline of building not only durable objects, but also spaces where families could gather and live more comfortably.
For the past ten years he has called Scotland home, and now works on projects that make everyday life more convenient. Standing two meters tall, the Tall Joiner knows firsthand how important custom furniture can be, especially in a city like Edinburgh with its countless narrow, sloping, and unexpected corners. He approaches each job as a chance to bring a balance of form and function to challenging spaces.
